Book 4 of the Nichelle Clarke Crime Thriller Series
A human sacrifice unlocks a chilling mystery, and leads Nichelle Clarke into a world of unimaginable danger.
When Richmond Police find a young woman's bloody remains spread across a candle-lit altar in an abandoned power plant on the banks of the James River, they give crime reporter Nichelle Clarke an all-access pass in exchange for her help.
But the information Nichelle gets from the victim's friends only draws her deeper into the mystery. Where did Jasmine come from? How did she end up on the streets of Shockoe Bottom? And why doesn't she have any dental records?
The answer trail stops at the front doors of a sprawling compound in the foothills of the Blue Ridge, where Nichelle finds a secretive cult leader and his devoted following. It is a world where lies become truth, and money is the true idol. Money some people would do anything to keep collecting...
Even if it means murdering a nosy reporter.
The writing is superb; Walker has a distinct voice and a sharp sense of humor. I really appreciated that this story delved more into Nichelle's backstory with the intriguing revelation of who her father is, and the internal turmoil that causes. I highly recommend for those looking for an edgier cozy!
Devil in the Deadline has it all. It has murder, intrigue, cults, mafia, & a love triangle. From the moment I picked it up, I couldn't put it down! Read this one, you won't be sorry!
Devil in the Deadline is page turner that had me racing to uncover the murderer along with Nichelle. She balances solving the mystery while trying to solve relationship problems. Hints of things to come and spending more time solving mysteries with Nichelle made me finish it wanting more.
This book has it all - good mystery, relationship issues, puzzles to solve, self discovery, wit and humor, romance and a couple of hot guys! A real page turner for me and I just couldn't put it down. Read this book but also get the first 3 in the series to understand the characters and relationships better.
Couldn't wait to read this next book and I was not disappointed. Good storyline, characters, likable lead, Nichelle, and a great mystery. Look forward to her next book.
This is the fourth in the series and just as good as the first three. The story line had me pulled into Nichelle's latest adventure from the first page and there was plenty of action and suspense to keep me reading until the the mystery was solved. I certainly hope there will be more to come in this series.
