My third selection for Best Reads of 2018 is:
November Road, by Lou Berney
Y’all, this book. Maybe the best thing I’ve read in years, and while I know some of that is attributable to my borderline obsession with the Kennedy assassination, the book isn’t really about JFK or that day, those things are just part of the setup. But Lou has taken the history and created some fantastically complex characters and used those things to craft the great American novel of 2018: it’s a thriller, it’s a love story, it’s a road novel, it’s a book about loss and redemption…even if you don’t know anything about JFK except that he was president and then he was shot, I’d bet you’ll love this book.
I truly hope you enjoy the books selected as much as I did!
With much affection,
LynDee
