I hope your September was as wonderful as mine! It’s been a month of excitement and good news around here. I have so much fun stuff to share with you today, I’m just going to jump right in!
Breaking news first: I signed last week with Severn River Publishing for the first book in a brand new series! No worries, Nichelle fans, the new Nichelle book is still right on schedule for this winter, and the contract for that one is official now, too. But even before the new Nichelle is out, you guys will get to meet Faith McClellan. I hope you love her as much as I do. She’s been living in my head for quite a good while now, and I am so excited to finally be able to share her with all of you! Look for more information on the first Faith McClellan novel, FEAR NO TRUTH, in your inbox very soon—and watch those updates for your chance to read an advance copy of the book before it even goes on sale!
I also signed my first foreign translation and publishing contract this month! Nichelle and the gang are going to Italy, with Italian language editions to be published by Hope Edizioni beginning in early 2020. I’ve always thought it would be very cool to have books that I wrote that I couldn’t read, and I’m thrilled to have that to look forward to.
And to complete the contract hat trick for September, I sold my first short story: “One Dish Sin and Salvation” was selected for LANDFALL, the Best New England Crime Stories 2018 anthology, and I’m thrilled to have my crazy little dark story in with the talented roster of authors also chosen for this collection. That will be available from Level Best Books in November.
Bouchercon 2018 was utterly fabulous, and I’m so glad I went. It’s always great fun to have the chance to meet readers and catch up with my mystery writer friends, the hotel was lovely, and I made a few new friends and learned some great things, too.
Speaking of meeting readers, if you’re in or around the Washington, D.C. area on October 13th, I will be at Fall For the Book that day! I’m appearing on the “Crime Fiction as Social Commentary” panel with several talented crime fiction authors. We’ll be on the George Mason University campus, in room 1203 in Merten Hall on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m. I’ll be signing books and chatting with readers after the panel is over, too. You can find more information about the festival at fallforthebook.org, and I hope to see you there!
Phew! I think I’ve covered everything (I told y’all it was a great month), so I’m headed back into the new Nichelle book to work for a while now. I turned the last corner last week, and should have a finished draft of this one very soon—it’s been such a joy to be back in the Telegraph newsroom. I hope y'all enjoy it as much as I have when launch day rolls around. Wishing you all a wonderful start to autumn, and plenty of good reading.
With much affection,
LynDee
