Happy Halloween, y’all! It’s been a busy October here, getting back into the full swing of school and sports for the littles and finishing the new Nichelle Clarke novel. Fun news was in plentiful supply here this month, too.
First, I have a complete draft of DEADLY POLITICS that I’m currently working away at revising. When a person writes the way I do (following the story instead of outlining it first), rough drafts are often a hot mess, but I’m okay with that. It makes drafting fun for me, and I enjoy the revisions: It’s kind of like taking a chisel and fine-tuning the story sculpture. Now that I know what happens, I can make an outline and turn this draft into a solid, polished book I hope y’all will thoroughly enjoy. I had more fun writing this one than I think I ever have. It has been such fun to be back in Nichelle’s world and catch up with her and her friends—special thanks to the team at Severn River Publishing for making that possible, and to all of you for your faith and patience.
Speaking of patience, where are my audiobook fans? Some of you have been asking me for years about Nichelle audiobooks, and I’m thrilled to share that Audible Studios has purchased the rights to the first six books, and those audiobooks will be produced in the coming months. Watch upcoming newsletters for release dates!
Those of you who came to the panel discussion I was part of at Fall For the Book in D.C. this month, thanks so much for spending part of your day with us, it was lovely to meet you! I love that festival, and really enjoyed discussing crime fiction as social commentary with some smart and talented authors.
I have all sorts of fun things coming in November, gearing up for the launch of my first Texas Ranger Faith McClellan novel, FEAR NO TRUTH. I hope y’all will love Faith as much as I do. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving and great start to the holiday season.
With much affection,
LynDee
